WD Launches WD Black2: Combined hard drive and SSD

Today Western Digital launched a unique new product. The WD Black2 is a hard disk and SSD in one, but not like a hybrid disk with SSD caching.
It contains two disks inside one 2.5-inch case that will fit in a standard 9.5 mm slot.

The WD Black2 contains a 1 TB hard disk and a 120 GB SSD which are seen by the OS as two different disks.
The compact size is compatible with most laptops and with a bracket you can use it in desktop systems.

Only a single SATA600 cable is required for connecting the WD Black2.

WD provides five years of warranty. The WD Black2 is compatible with Windows 8.1, 8, 7 Vista and XP (32-bit). MacOS X is not (yet) supported.

The disk comes complete with a SATA to USB 3.0 kit and a web key for downloading software you can use for converting your current hard disk to the new dual drive.

The WD Black2 will cost 299 euros (£249).
